DUSHANBE, December 26, 2014, Asia-Plus — The exchange rate of the Tajik national currency, the somoni (TJS), against the dollar (USD) has risen nearly 3 percent over the past week, registering an average market purchase rate of the dollar against the somoni 1:5.4125 on December 26 against, down from 1:5.615 on December 19.
Tajik central bank notes that on December 26 the highest market purchase rate between USD and TJS was reported in Khujand and Qurghon Teppa – 1:5.42.
In Dushanbe, the market exchange rate between USD and TJS fell from 1:5.60 on December 19 to 1:5.41 on December 26.
In Khujand, the capital of Sughd province the market exchange rate between USD and TJS fell from 1:5.64 on December 19 to 1:5.42 on December 26.
In Qurghon Teppa, the capital of Khatlon province the market exchange rate between USD and TJS fell from 1:5.62 on December 19 to 1:5.42 on December 26.
In Kulob (Khatlon province), the market exchange rate between USD and TJS fell from 1:5.60 on December 19 to 1:5.40 on December 26.
In Khorog, the capital of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), the market exchange rate between USD and TJS fell from 1:5.45 on December 19 to 1:5.40 on December 26.
Meanwhile, an official exchange rate between USD and TJS set by the National Bank of Tajikistan rose from 1:5.2415 on December 19 to 1:5.2783 on December 26.
