NOUROBOD, June 16, Asia-Plus  — In connection with the resumption construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power station (HPS), local authorities of the Nourobod district, some 120 kilometers northeast of Dushanbe, have began explanatory work among residents of the settlements of Aligalabon, Chorsada, Sari Poul, Airport and Nizhny, which will be submerged by construction of the Roghun reservoir.

Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, representative from the Nourobod authorities noted that residents of the mentioned villages could move to the Darband and Khumdon jamoats.  Besides, some 100 families will be resettled to Khatlon’s Danghara district and the city of Tursunzoda.  Authorities are supposed to launch resettlement efforts at the end of this year.

The Nourobod authorities should submit their resettlement proposals for consideration to the government before July 1.

It is to be noted that after the last visit of President Emomali Rahmon to the Fayzobod district in early June, construction of residential buildings and other facilities in the areas that will be submerged by construction of the Roghun reservoir has been banned.
