DUSHANBE, March 11, 2015, Asia-Plus – On Tuesday March 10, Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Aslov received Mr. Miroslav Jenca, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General (SRSG) and Head of the United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA), the Tajik MFA information department reports.

Aslov and Jenca reportedly discussed a broad range of issues related to cooperation between Tajikistan and UNRCCA.

They also exchanged views on important regional and security issues, upcoming events and other issues being of mutual interest.

The United Nations Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia was inaugurated in December 2007 to help the region’s countries respond more proactively to cross-border challenges and threats before they can become costlier and more difficult to control.

The Center is tasked with assisting the governments of Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan in building capacities to peacefully prevent conflict, in facilitating dialogue, and in catalyzing international support behind projects and initiatives.
