More than 110 official delegations will participate in The 4th High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action, “Water for Sustainable Development” (2018–2028), which will take place from May 25 to 28 in Dushanbe.

Tajikistan hopes that the forum will become a platform for developing common solutions to water problems, glacier protection, and combating the consequences of climate change.

As Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Sanoi Boizoda, stated at a briefing for journalists today, the conference will bring together leaders and representatives of governments, UN institutions, international and regional organizations, financial institutions, academia, civil society, the private sector, and youth.

Sanoi Boizoda noted that the great interest in the event demonstrates Dushanbe’s important role in discussing global water issues.

He emphasized that the conference will serve as a platform for discussing sustainable water resource management, combating the consequences of climate change, glacier protection, and the development of water diplomacy.

The Deputy Minister also reminded that the Dushanbe Conference will be one of the important stages in preparing for the UN Water Conference 2026. Its co-chairs will be Senegal and the United Arab Emirates.

As part of the Dushanbe Water Process, this conference focuses on accelerating action, strengthening partnerships, and finalizing contributions for the 2026 UN Water Conference.

This initiative by the Government of Tajikistan is implemented jointly with the UN and provides for holding water conferences every two years.

Previously, such conferences were held in Dushanbe in 2018, 2022, and 2024.
