DUSHANBE, May 4, 2015, Asia-Plus – The next meeting of the CIS Council for Youth Affairs will take place in the Tajik capital, Dushanbe, from May 12-13.
According to the CIS Executive Committee press center, the meeting members will discuss the progress of implementation of the plan of actions designed for 2014-2015 for implementation of the youth cooperation among the CIS member nations up to 2020 and the draft plan of actions designed from 2016-2017.
The meeting will also discuss events that will be held in the CSI member nations to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II and implementation of the CIS youth project, 100 Ides fro CIS.
The meeting participants will also discuss issues related to improvement of the legal foundation for expansion of youth cooperation.
The CIS Council for Youth Affairs was set up to fulfill the CIS agreement in the field of the youth policy signed in Moscow on November 25, 2005. The Council includes representatives of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, and Tajikistan.
Founded on December 8, 1991 after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) is a regional organization. It now consists of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. Georgia pulled out of the organization in 2009.
