DUSHANBE, May 22, Asia-Plus — Tajik labor migrants will be sent to Moscow for seasonal work only on applications by Russian employers, Ms. Sharifa Usmonova, the deputy head of the migration service within the Ministry of Interior (MoI), said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to her, negotiations between the government of Tajikistan and the Moscow mayor”s office that were held in Dushanbe at the end of last year resulted in an agreement on selection of labor migrants for working in Moscow.
“Under this agreement, Tajikistan will send labor migrants only on applications by the Moscow employers and labor migrants will be competitively selected,” Ms. Usmonova said, noting that 26 firms are licensed to organize external labor migration.
She added that they are currently negotiating the establishment of private employment agencies in Tajikistan and Russia. “An international conference dedicated to this issue is expected to be held in Dushanbe on May 29,” Usmonova said.
