DUSHANBE, July 22, 2015, Asia-Plus — An extraordinary session of the Tajik government, presided over by Emomali Rahmon, took place on July 22.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, issues related to mitigation of effects of recent natural disasters were a major topic of the meeting.

According to the preliminary data of the government, damage caused by recent mudslides and floods is estimate at 600 million somoni.

In the Shugnan district of the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), mudslides and floods reportedly destroyed 72 residential buildings.

In the Rasht district (eastern Tajikistan), five houses were destroyed completely and 15 other houses were damaged partially.

The natural disasters left six dead in the Vanj district of Gorno Badakhshan and one dead in the Rasht district.

The president ordered relevant ministries and agencies to build new houses for families, whose house had been destroyed completely, until November.

All building materials will be provided to the disaster-affected families free of charge.

Speaking at the meeting, President Rahmon noted that families, whose residential buildings had been destroyed completely, will receive 10,000 somoni each and families, whose residential buildings had been damaged martially, will receive 6,000 somoni each.

Besides, the president ordered relevant officials to open special account at Amonatbonk (Tajikistan’s savings bank) to assist disaster-affected families.
