DUSHANBE, April 26, Asia-Plus  — The spring conscription campaign has reached 50 percent of the target to date, which is considered  a good result, especially with more than a month remaining in the campaign, according to the Ministry of Defense (MoD) press service.

The conscription campaign has been organized well in Khatlon’s Nosir Khusrav district, which has already fulfilled the conscription campaign target, the press service said.

However, there are some problems that impede the conscription campaign.  The source at a MoD said that the fact that many young men of call-up age are currently outside the country seeking better employment opportunities presents serious challenge to the conscription campaign.

Another problem is health conditions of conscripts.  Almost one in ten conscripts is in unsatisfactory health condition, the source said.

He added that they have not yet received any complaint about illegal conscription.

The spring conscription campaign is carried out from April through May.  The draft affects able-bodied male citizens in the age bracket of 18 years old to 27 years old who are not members of the armed forces reserve.
