DUSHANBE, April 23, Asia-Plus  — Tajik MPs have unanimously voted for amendment to the country’s administrative code permitting use of cars with tinted glass windows in Tajikistan.

A regular sitting of the fourth session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) of the third convocation, presided over by its chairman, Saydullo Khairulloyev, was held on April 23.

Presenting the amendment, Tojiddin Tourayev, the member of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Committee for Constitution, Legislation and Human Rights, noted that the amendment provides for permitting the use of cars with glass windows, tinted in accordance with standards, recognized in all CIS states, including Tajikistan.

According to the CIS standards, vehicles may have tint on the windshield as dark as 25 percent, windows to the immediate left and right of the driver — 30 percent, and rear windows — 100 percent, Tourayev said.

Speaking to reporters, MP Muhiddin Kabiri noted that the mentioned standards have been effective in all CIS states.  He noted that the resolution passed by the government in 1999 to ban use of cars with tinted glass windows was illegal was illegal, and “many car holders incurred considerable financial and moral losses connected with actions of traffic police officers.”  Therefore, this resolution should be revoked.
