DUSHANBE, April 23, Asia-Plus  — Visiting delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) yesterday visited the site for the Sangtuda-1 hydroelectric power plant (HPP) on the Vakhsh River.    

According to the EBRD Dushanbe Office, the visit to the Sangtuda-1 site had a fact finding character and was held within the framework of familiarization by representatives of shareholders of the Bank with projects aimed at supporting enhancement of infrastructure, energy and financing of agrarian sectors in the Khatlon province.   

The delegation members included representatives of the Bank’s Board and employees of the EBRD Dushanbe Office.     

The Bank representatives familiarized themselves with a progress of construction of the station and then went to Danghara.   

Representatives of open joint-stock company (OJSC) Sangtuda HPP-1 also noted that the visit had a fact finding character and the EBRD and Sangtuda- HPP-1 currently do have not have any joint projects.

We will recall that the EBRD delegation arrived in Tajikistan on April 21 for a two-day working visit.  During their stay in Tajikistan, the delegation members held talks with President Emomali Rahmon and members of Tajikistan’s economic team, members of the diplomatic and business communities and representatives of civil society to discuss recent developments in the country.  They also visited EBRD projects.          

Today, the EBRD delegation left Tajikistan for Turkmenistan
