DUSHANBE, April 18, Asia-Plus — Over the first three months of this year, Tajikistan’s consumer cooperation union, Tojikmatlubot, has transferred 2.91 million somonis (TJS) to the national budget, which is 40,000 somonis more than in the same period of last year, Ms. Gulnora Qoqova, the deputy head of Tojikmatlubot, announced at a press conference in Dushanbe on April 18.
According to her, the volume of retail turnover has amounted to some 22 million somonis. In January-March 2008, Tojikmatlubot has purchased farm produce for 12 million somonis.
Over the same three-month period, Tajik consumer cooperation union has exported 167,000 somonis’ worth of 14,000 pieces of astrakhan and 65 tons of onions.
Tojikmatlubot has organized a series of fairs of agricultural goods in Dushanbe over the report period and some 700,000 tons of agricultural good have been realized at those fairs.
Ms. Qoqova also noted that Tojikmatlubot has produced 170,000 somonis’ worth of products in January-March this year. “Tojikmatlubot’s net profit for January-March has amounted to more than 2 million somonis,” she said, adding that Tojikmatlubot currently has 2,690 shops and 667 public catering facilities.
