DUSHANBE, April 18, Asia-Plus — In January-March 2008, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electric energy and natural gas, has amounted to $1.0326 billion, which is 15.8 percent of the January-March 2007 level, according to figures provided by the State Committee for Statistics.
The overall trade balance remained negative and has amounted to $323 million over the report period.
Exports of goods in January-March 2008 have amounted to $372.3 million, which is $30.3 million fewer than in the same period of last year. Imports of goods into Tajikistan over the same three-month period have amounted to $695.3 million, which is $170 million more than in January-March 2007.
Over the report period, Tajikistan has had trade relations with 77 countries, including 11 CIS states.
Over the same three-month period, the CIS states have accounted for some 45.6 percent ($471.3 million) of Tajikistan’s external trade turnover and the far abroad countries have accounted for 54.4 percent ($561.3 million) of the country’s external trade turnover.
