DUSHANBE, March 27, Asia-Plus — Ways of expanding economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Indonesia were a focus of a meeting of the head of Tajikistan’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) Sharif Said with an Indonesian delegation led by Primo Alu Joelianto, Director-General for Asia Pacific & Africa and APEC Senior Official Department of Foreign Affairs, and Sjahril Sabaruddin, Indonesian Ambassador to Uzbekistan, that was held in Dushanbe on March 25.
During the meeting it was noted that sectors like hydropower, mining, road building and housing could be priorities of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The Tajik CCI head noted that Tajikistan currently needs investment in processing enterprises and called on the Indonesian side to launch joint ventures in Tajikistan.
He added that many Tajik companies, including the Tajik aluminum smelter, are ready for cooperation with foreign partners. Tajikistan also attaches significance to development of tourism and relevant industries, Sharif Said noted.
For his part, the Indonesian Ambassador noted that his country is interested in purchasing Tajik cotton and expanding cooperation in agrarian sector.
