DUSHANBE, March 15, Asia-Plus — On March 14, President Emomali Rahmon held talks with Syrian Vice President Farouk al-Shara in Dakar, Senegal on sidelines of the 11th OIC Summit.
According to presidential press service, the two discussed issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan Syria. During the meeting, it was noted that the first session of the Tajik-Syrian economic commission would held in Dushanbe this year. Emomali Rahmon noted that he invites Syrian President Bashar Asad to pay an official visit to Tajikistan.
They also considered the issue of opening of the Syrian Embassy in Dushanbe and the Tajik Embassy in Damascus.
The same day, the Tajik head of state met in Dakar with Bahrain’ Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid ibn Ahmad ibn Muhammad to discuss establishment of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Bahrain, according presidential press service said.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on establishment and expansion of cooperation in sectors like hydropower, transportation, gas and oil extraction, chemical, food and light industries, as well as agriculture, tourism, science, etc. The two also considered the possibility of both national and private investments of Bahrain in development of Tajikistan’s economy.
Bahraini foreign minister suggested that Tajik government delegation should visit Bahrain to prepare highest-level visit and prepare legal foundation of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
