Tajik president expected to get his own holiday today

DUSHANBE April 15, 2016, Asia-Plus – The issue of amendments offered to the country’s law on holidays has been tabled to the agenda of today’s sitting of the second session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower house of parliament) of the fifth convocation.

November 16 will be declared as President’s Day in Tajikistan. 

On November 16, 1992, the 16th session of began in the Tajik northern city of Khujand,  and on November 19, Emomali Rahmon was appointed chairman of the Supreme Council, one of the first formal steps taken toward him becoming president.

The Majlisi Namoyandagon will also discuss the issues of ratification of a concession agreement between the Government of Tajikistan and Malaysia’s HOS Powertech International SDN BHD on the Shurob heat and power plant and a protocol on amendments to an agreement on management of funds of the Anti-Crisis Fund of the Eurasian Economic Community (EAEC) signed on June 9, 2009.
