DUSHANBE, March 7, Asia-Plus  — Visit of President Viktor Yushchenko to Tajikistan is an important landmark in expansion of relations between Tajikistan and Ukraine, President Emomali Rahmon remarked today, opening a meeting in an enlarged composition, which followed his talks with Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko.

He noted that joint efforts of the two countries should be aimed at further strengthening of bilateral relations.

For his part, Viktor Yushchenko stressed that there are no any obstacles for expansion of many-sided cooperation between the two countries and “it is necessary to use all existing potential.”

As it had been reported earlier, negotiations between delegations of the two countries are expected to result in signing of a number of bilateral cooperation documents.

The documents include a joint statement signed by the two heads of state, plan of actions for 2008-2009 and a number of other agreements related to further expansion of economic, scientific and cultural cooperation between Tajikistan and Ukraine.  .
