DUSHANBE, June 15, 2016, Asia-Plus – Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda yesterday visited the Kulob region of the southern province of Khatlon.

According to the Prime Minister Secretariat, the main purpose of the visit was for the prime minister to get acquainted with operation of pumping stations and rehabilitation of flood protection embankment in the area.

In the Farkhor district, the prime minister visited the pumping station Urta-Boz-4, which supplies water to nearly 4,000 hectares of lands, and got acquainted with rehabilitation of more than 130 meters of flood protection embankment.

Rasoulzoda also visited the Hamadoni district to get acquainted with rehabilitation of flood protection embankment in the Chubek area.

Tajikistan is prone to frequent natural disasters because of its terrain and climate. Floods are particularly severe disaster risks because of the mountainous nature of the country.
