DUSHANBE, August 1, 2016, 2015, Asia-Plus – One more large cement plant will be introduced into operation in Tajikistan this month, according to the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies (MoINT).

An official source at a MoINT says a 1.2 million capacity cement plant will be introduced into operation this month in the Yovon district, Khatlon province.

The Government of Tajikistan and International Company Chzhungtsai Mohir (phonetically spelled) Cement LTD have signed an investment agreement on construction of the cement plant and construction of the plant began two years ago.

A total cost of the project is 120 million U.S. dollars and the plant will create 500 new jobs, according to the source.

Besides, an enterprise to produce gypsum plasterboards and an enterprise to produce cement sacks will be built in Yovon.

We will recall that the Yovon cement plant (Huaxin Gayur Cement Co., Ltd) with capacity of 1 million tons was introduced into operation in September 2013.

Operated by Tajikistan-China joint venture, Huaxin Gayur Cement Co., Ltd, this coal-powered enterprise now produces two types of cement – M-400 and M-500.

Huaxin Gayur Cement Co., Ltd was established by Huaxin Zhongya Investment (Wuhan) Co., Ltd, the subsidiary of Huaxin Cement Co., Ltd, and Gayur Limited Liability Company.  Huaxin Zhongya Investment (Wuhan) Investment Co., Ltd assumes the 75% ownership interest and Gayur Limited Liability Company owns 25 percent of the shares in Huaxin Gayur Cement Co., Ltd.

The latest technologies were reportedly used to build the Yovon cement plant with annual capacity of one million tons.  The plant reportedly meets regional environmental requirements.

Tajikistan now fully meets its requirements in cement and even began to export cement to the neighboring countries.

Over the first six months of this year, Tajikistan has exported 200,000 tons of cement to Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan, the source said.
