The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rakhmon on August 24, observing the principle of humanism, has signed the Law “On Amnesty” adopted by Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic on Wednesday. About it reports a press-service of the head of state.

The adopted law “On Amnesty” will be applied against the twelve thousand suspects, accused, defendants and convicts. More than 3 million individuals will be released from correctional institutions, more than four thousand would be exempt from other penalties not related to deprivation of liberty. It also decreases the term of serving of punishment of condemned to imprisonment.

This Law also applies to more than 2 thousand persons, criminal cases of which are in manufacture of bodies of inquiry, preliminary investigation or court.

Providing the bill to the deputies at the extraordinary session of the Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of Tajikistan of the fifth convocation, the General Prosecutor of Tajikistan Yusuf Rakhmon noted that the Amnesty will not apply to the persons who committed serious crimes, such as treason, espionage, terrorism, brutal murder.
