From September 20 through September 25, 2016, Mr. Hajime Kitaoka, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Tajikistan, visited the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) and attended three handover ceremonies for the projects implemented by the Government of Japan under the scheme of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP).
According to Japan’s Embassy in Dushanbe, the ceremonies were held in the presence of chairperson of each district where the project took place. During the ceremonies, the chairperson of Shugnan, Rushan and Vanj districts commemorated the successful completion of the projects. The total amount of the four projects reportedly amounted to US$ 266,338.
On September 21, Ambassador Kitaoka attended the handover ceremony in the Vanj district to commemorate the successful completion of “The Project for Provision of Agricultural and Road Maintenance Machinery in Vanj District.” With the new agricultural machinery, the local farmers now have an opportunity to improve the efficiency and productivity of the agricultural products in Yazgulom Jamoat. The handover ceremony was attended by Ms. Davlatbibi Rajabova, Chairperson of Vanj District, as well as the members of the local communities and farmers.
On September 23, in the presence of Mr. Aziz Giyoyev, Chairperson of Shugnan District, Deputy Chairperson, Head of Association of Water Users, and local farmers, the successful completion of “The Project for Improvement of Irrigation Canal in Midenshor and Khosa Villages, Porshinev Jamoat, Shugnan District” was celebrated, together with the people of the Shugnan communities. Through the project the major irrigation canal was improved, which resulted in solving the water shortage problems and increase in the agricultural productivity of Khosa and Midenshor villages of Porshinev Jamoat.
The handover ceremony for “The Project for Renovation of the Central Clinic of Rushan District” was held on September 24 in Rushan district with the presence of Mr. Khudoyor Khudoyorov, Chairperson of Rushan District, along with the clinic workers, patients and local communities. With the realization of the project, the Central Clinic has been entirely renovated thereby creating a secure and improved nursing environment, benefiting all the patients and workers of the hospital.
