Over the first ten months of this year, inflation in Tajikistan has stood at 5.2 percent, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.
In October, inflation reportedly stood at 0.2 percent, which is 0.2 percent less than in the previous month.
This year, the highest inflation rate was reported in January – 1.4 percent.
The lowest inflation rate this year was reported in March, May and October – 0.2 percent.
The government reportedly expects the year-end inflation for this year to stand at 7.5 percent.
An average monthly inflation rate for January-October this year has been 0.52 percent and if nothing extraordinary happens next month, the year-end inflation for this year will stand at no more than 6.3 percent.
Recall, the year-end inflation for last year stood at 5.1 percent.
According to Trading Economics global macro models and analysts expectations, the year-end inflation for 2016 is expected to stand at 6.40. In the long-term, the Tajikistan inflation rate is projected to trend around 5.00 percent in 2020, according to Trading Economics econometric models.
Tajikistan inflation rate forecasts are reportedly projected using an autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model calibrated using Trading Economics analysts’ expectations.
Meanwhile, non-foodstuffs have risen in cost by 5.0 percent over the first ten months this year with the prices increasing most significantly for the following: carpets – 35 percent; men’s shirts – by 20; pharmaceutical preparations – 10 percent; and so forth.
Over the same ten-month period, prices of foodstuffs have increased by 5.2 percent, including: buckwheat groats – 36 percent; apples – 35 percent; carrots – 25 percent; sugar – 21 percent’ and so forth.
Over the report period, prices and rates for services rendered to the population have risen 5.3 percent. The ones that increased most significantly were: airline tickets – 44 percent, payment for liquefied gas – 23 percent, payment for electric energy – 16.5 percent, tickets for rail travel – 1.5 percent.
