The Council of the lower house of the Tajik parliament considered on August 16 the amendments to the law "On the regulation of traditions, celebrations and ceremonies" proposed by the President of the Republic Emomali Rahmon. The deputies also discussed amendments to the laws "On Higher and Post-Graduate Professional Education", "On Secondary Vocational Education", "On Initial Professional Education", "On Education", the Criminal Code, the Code of Tajikistan on Administrative Offenses.

 Head of the parliamentary faction of the People's Democratic Party of Tajikistan Bakhtovar Safarzoda expressed confidence that all 43 deputies from the PDPT unanimously support the next initiatives of the leader of the country aimed at social protection of the population and national values.

 According to Safarzoda, the amendments proposed by the head of state to the law "On the regulation of traditions, celebrations and ceremonies" were mainly formed from the proposals of the residents of Tajikistan which were voiced at the meetings of the president with the population during his trips around the country.

Speaking today at a meeting of the Council, the speaker of the lower house of the Tajik parliament Shukurjon Zuhurov called the amendments to the law "On the regulation of traditions, celebrations and ceremonies" proposed by Emomali Rahmon "a revolutionary step of the head of state".
