Over the first nine months of this year, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electrical power, has amounted to 2.8686 billion U.S. dollars, which was 99.91 percent of the January-September 2017 level or 27.2 million U.S. dollars fewer, according the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

The trade balance in January-September this year has been negative and amounted to 1.0659 billion U.S. dollars.

Exports of goods over the report period have reportedly amounted to 901.4 million U.S. dollars, which was 34 percent or 228.7 million USD more than in the same period last year.

Over the same seven-month period, imports of goods into the country have amounted to more 1.7 billion U.S. dollars, which was 11.5 percent or 255.9 million USD less than in January-September, 2016.

Compared to September 2016 Tajikistan’s foreign trade turnover last month increased by 44.3 percent or 155.4 million U.S. dollars.  

Over the first nine months of this year, Tajikistan has had trade relations with 102 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

Over the report period, major Tajikistan exports partners were: Kazakhstan – 24.9 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s exports; Turkey – 16.5 percent; Luxemburg – 13.8 percent; Switzerland and Afghanistan – 9.0 each; Taiwan – 4.7 percent; Uzbekistan – 4.4 percent; China – 2.8 percent; the Netherlands – 1.9 percent; etc.      

Over the same nine-month period, major Tajikistan imports partners were: Russia – 3.4 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s imports; China – 20.3 percent; Kazakhstan – 18.2 percent; Turkey – 3.8 percent; Germany – 3.4 percent; Uzbekistan – 2.7 percent; Iran – 2.4 percent; etc.       

The bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Russia over report period has valued at more than 672 million U.S. dollars (12-percent decrease compared to January-September 2016) and the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and China in January-September this year has valued at little more than 425 million U.S. dollars (nearly 40-percent decrease compared to the same period last year).

Meanwhile, a two-way trade between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan over the first nine months of this year has amounted to some 582 million U.S. dollars, which is 27 percent more than in the same period last year.
