Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Aslov has held a number of bilateral meetings in the Uzbek city of Samarqand on the sidelines of the 13th annual EU-Central Asia ministerial meeting that took place there on November 10, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
His meeting with the European Union’s (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini reportedly focused on the state and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union.

They, in particular, discussed issues related to regional security economic development, human rights problems and the EU’s Strategy for Central Asia.
Aslov and Mogherini also exchanged views on the implementation of Tajikistan’s National Development Strategy for the Period to 2030.
Tajik foreign minister and his Afghan counterpart Salahuddin Rabbani discussed a broad range of issues related to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Afghanistan and regional and international issues being of mutual interest.

Aslov and Rabbani reported confirmed readiness of their countries expand bilateral trade, energy, transportation, industrial, cultural and educational cooperation.
Tajik foreign minister and the European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica discussed cooperation between Tajikistan and the European Union as well as ways of expanding cooperation in implementing Tajikistan’s National Development Strategy for the Period to 2030.

Mr. Mimica reportedly expressed readiness to take efforts to promote various EU projects and programs in Tajikistan.
Aslov’s meeting with the Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Miroslav Jenca focused on state and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Nations and its specialized agencies, the Tajik MFA information department said.
