Tajik Ambassador to Qatar Khisrav Sohibzoda on February 11 met in Doha with Qatar Museums Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mansour bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud.

According to the Tajik MFA information department, Tajik ambassador and Qatar Museums Acting CEO discussed issues related to expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Qatar in the field of museum practice.

In this context, they reportedly pointed to the necessity of exchange of specialists and experience in the sphere of museum management studies, organization of trainings and joint exhibitions of cultural heritages for the purpose of promoting further development of friendly relations between the peoples of Tajikistan and Qatar.

Mansour bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud expressed readiness to support organization of presentation of Tajik cultural heritage in Qatari museums and seconded an initiative to sign a cooperation agreement between the Qatar Museums (QM) and the National Museum of Tajikistan, the Tajik MFA information department said.

The Qatar Museums (QM) is the lead body for museums in Qatar.  Established in 2005, the QM aims to combine the resources of all museums in Qatar, providing a comprehensive organization for museum development and establishing an effective system for collecting, protecting, preserving and interpreting historic sites, monuments, and artifacts.  The QM seeks to engage and connect diverse audiences – nationally and internationally – with a program that welcomes the world to Doha.  During the years, the scope of activities of the QM widened and it soon became the managing body of an ambitious plan that aims to make Qatar a world class cultural destination, notably in modern and contemporary art.
