The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) has reportedly extended the term of obtaining an operating license for payment service providers until the end of March.
Under Tajikistan’s law on payment services and payment system that was adopted last year, all payment system operators should have obtained an operating license until March 2 this year.
“To-date, the majority of payment service providers operating in Tajikistan, including Visa International, Master Card, UnionPay, Western Union, Zolotaya Korona, Leader, UNISTREAM and some others, have submitted all necessary documents for obtaining the operating license to the NBT,” an official source the NBT told Asia-Plus in an interview.
While considering the documents Tajik central bank has reportedly revealed a number of shortcomings that should be removed.
Removal of these shortcomings requires a certain time, and therefore, Tajik central bank has decided to extend the term of obtaining an operating license for payment service providers until March 28, 2018, the source added.
