DUSHANBE, October 18, Asia-Plus  — Physical entities have delivered some 7,000 cars to Tajikistan since the beginning of the year, Nematboy Rahmatov, First Deputy Chief of the Customs Service, announced at a news conference in Dushanbe on October 18.   

“Under the current legislation the rate of customs clearance of cars with engine’s capacity of up to 2,500 cubic centimeters is $0.1 per one cubic centimeter and for cars with engine’s capacity of more than 2,500 cubic centimeters the customs clearance rate is $0.2,” Rahmatov said, noting that if car’s age is more than five years the customs clearance rates quintuple.  

The customs official further added that on customs officers’ initiative a new resolution setting new customs clearance rates for cars and goods delivered to the country by physical entities had been prepared.    

Rahmatov also noted that over the first three quarters of this year, Tajikistan’s external trade turnover has mounted to $2.809 billion.  This consisted of exports estimated at more than $1.055 billion and imports worth  $1.753 billion.  

Over the report period, the customs service has transferred more than 780 million somonis to the country’s budget, according to him.   

During the news conference, it was also noted that over the same nine-month period customs officers have warded off more than 3,000 customs infringements and intercepted some 35 kilograms of drugs.
