Tajikistan’s external trade turnover estimated at more than 1.684 billion USD in January-May 2018

Over the first five months of this year, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electrical power, amounted to 1.684.2 billion U.S. dollars, which was 121.8 percent of the January-May 2018 level or 300.9 million U.S. dollars more, according the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

The trade balance over the report period has been negative and amounted to 825.7 million U.S. dollars.

Exports of goods over the first five months of this year have reportedly amounted to 429.3 million U.S. dollars, which was 13.3 percent or 50.5 million USD more than in the same period last year. 

Over the same five-month period, imports of goods into the country have amounted to 1.254.9 billion U.S. dollars, which was 24.9 percent or 250.5 million U.S. dollars more than in January-May last year.  

The export-import coverage ratio has reportedly amounted to 34.2 percent in January-May 2018. 

Compared to May 2017 Tajikistan’s foreign trade turnover last month reportedly decreased by 14.6 percent or 49.5 million U.S. dollars.  

Over the first five months of this year, Tajikistan reportedly had trade relations with 93 countries of the world, including ten CIS nations.

In January-May this year, the major trading partners of Tajikistan were Russia (the two-way trade between Tajikistan and Russia valued at 385 million US dollars over the report period), Kazakhstan (345 million US dollars) and China (260 million US dollars)  

Over the report period, major Tajikistan exports partners were: Kazakhstan – 30.6 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s exports; Turkey – 25.7 percent; Uzbekistan – 12.6 percent; Afghanistan – 4.9 percent; Iran – 4.4 percent; Russia – 4.3 percent; China – 4.0 percent; Taiwan – 3.9 percent; the Netherlands – 2.6 percent; Italy – 1.8 percent; Kyrgyzstan – 1.3 percent; Pakistan – 0.7 percent; Latvia – 0.5 percent; etc.      

Over the same five-month period, major Tajikistan imports partners were: Russia – 29.2 percent of the overall volume of Tajikistan’s imports; China – 19.4 percent; Kazakhstan – 17.0 percent; Turkey – 4.6 percent; Germany – 3.5 percent; Uzbekistan – 3.2 percent; Iran – 2.2 percent; Pakistan – 2.1 percent; Turkmenistan and Japan – 1.9 percent each; Kyrgyzstan – 1.8 percent; Belarus – 1.6 percent ; Italy – 1.5 percent; Ukraine – 1.3 percent; the United States – 1.1 percent; the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – 0.8 percent; Republic of Korea – 0.7 percent; etc.
