DUSHANBE, October 9, Asia-Plus — The Higher Education Support Program and Scholarship Program run by the Tajik Branch of Open Society Institute/Assistance Foundation (OSI/AF) jointly with Tajik Ministry of Education (MoE) will hold an Annual Education Fair in the Building of the National Academic Theater named after Abulqosim Lohouti in Dushanbe on October 10, Asia-Plus has learned from Rukhshona Olimova, the media program coordinator, Tajik Branch of OSI/AF.   

It will be the sixth of a series of the education fairs having been held in Tajikistan since 2002.

Last year, some 2,000 people visited the annual education fair in 2006, Olimova said.

According to her, visitors, who include primarily school students and young specialists, will be able to familiarize themselves with information about education programs that will give Tajik citizens an opportunity to study abroad.   

The fair will present education programs of OSI, Tajik MoE, the American University of Central Asia (AUCA), British Council-Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan’s Institute for Management, Economy and Politics, the US Embassy in Dushanbe, ACCELS, the University of Central Asia (UCA), German Service for Academic Exchange (DAAD), IREX, Relief International-Schools On Line, Certified International Professional Accountants (CIPA) program financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and Culture Center Bactria.  

Representatives from these organizations will conduct consultations on education systems abroad, rules of preparation of documents and passing tests, as well as terms of getting financial support for studying abroad.   

Similar fairs will be held in Khujand on October 16, in Qurghon Teppa on October 18 and in Kulob on October 19.
