Known Tajik scientist Ahror Mukhtorov passes away

DUSHANBE, October 8, Asia-Plus — Known Tajik scientist, Corresponding Member of the Tajik Academy of Sciences Ahror Mukhtorov died in Dushanbe on October 7, aged 82 after a long illness.   

Professor Ahror Mukhtorov was born in the city of Istaravshan (formerly Ura Teppa) on November 5, 1924.  He graduated from the Faculty of History at Tajik Teachers’ Training institute in 1951.  Since 1953, Mukhtorov had worked with the Institute of History, Archeology and Ethnography.  During 30 years, he had headed the Medieval Ages Department at the Institute.   

Professor Ahror Mukhtorov is author of 80 books and more than 500 scientific articles on history of Tajikistan and Central Asia.  Many of his works were translated into foreign languages and published abroad.   

Ahror Mukhtorov was veteran of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and warded numerous orders and medals.
