Russia helps strengthen Tajikistan’s defense capacity, says Tajik leader

DUSHANBE, October 6, Asia-Plus — Commenting on the upcoming summit of the Collective Security treaty Organization, President Emomali Rahmon said that Tajikistan is located on southern border of the organization and nearly 1,400-kilometer common border with Afghanistan, which is still facing problems of drug trafficking and terrorism expansion.

On the cooperation of Tajikistan with the Russian Federation, the Tajik president, “Russia has helped us very good strengthen defense capacity of Tajikistan.”  

“Military and technical cooperation between the two countries are also successful,” Rahmon said, reminding that Russia’s largest military base within the CIS area is deployed in Tajikistan.
