DUSHANBE, October 4, Asia-Plus –57 local public associations and NGOs as well as representatives offices of some 10 international organizations active in Tajikistan have to date been reregistered with the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), Asia-plus has leaned from Davlat Sulaymonov, the head of the MoJ directorate for registration of public associations and political parties.   

“2,000 non-government organizations have been registered with the ministry, however, we are not aware of fates of many of them.  Every year, only some 800 organizations submit reports about their activities to the ministry,” said Sulaymonov, “67 organizations have already been reregistered and documents of 20 others are still under consideration.”  

 If the public associations fail to register themselves with the ministry before January 1, 2008, they may lose their registration certificates, the MoJ official said.
