DUSHANBE, October 4, Asia-Plus  — According to data provided by the CIS Interstate Committee for Statistics,  in January-August 2007, Tajikistan with 8.2 percent growth rate has stood in third place in terms of increase in industrial production, following Azerbaijan with 32.7 percent growth rate and Ukraine with 10.9 percent growth rate.   

In the meantime, in January-August 2007, Tajikistan has produced a total of 3.308432 billion somonis’ worth of industrial goods, which is $960.9 million somonis more than in the same period of last year, Tajik State Committee for Statistics Compared to January-August 2006 the index of the volume of production of industrial goods has amounted to 108 percent.   

Over the report period, in the territorial cross section the proportions of increase industrial production were: Dushanbe – 28 % (246 million somonis worth of industrial goods were produced); Khatlon province – 10.2 percent (584.32 million worth of industrial goods were produced), Sughd province – 528.486 million somonis); districts subordinate to the center  (RRPs) – 3.5 percent (1.497101 billion somonis).  Gorno Badakhshan  has produced only 32.304 million somonis’ worth of industrial goods in January-August 2007.    

Over the report period, 221 enterprises, or 30.5 percent of the overall number (more than 700), have not been operation in Tajikistan.
