An additional 750 million somoni will be allocated through the sale of precious stones and metals.
Corresponding amendments to the Law "On the State Budget for 2018" were adopted today by the lower house of the Parliament of Tajikistan.
Speaking to the deputies, the Minister of Finance of Tajikistan Fayziddin Kakhorzoda noted that by the end of the year an additional 749 million somoni would be allocated for the construction of the Rogun hydropower station.
Initially, the construction of the Rogun HPP this year was planned to allocate 2 billion somoni from the state budget.
The Minister explained that additional funds will be allocated through the sale of precious stones and metals.
At the same time he stressed that at the moment the government of the country has about $ 190 million, which were obtained a year ago due to the sale on the international markets of government bonds (Eurobonds).
The Minister of Finance does not exclude that part of these funds will be spent on the construction of Rogun before the end of this year, and the other part next year.
Note that in September last year, the Government of Tajikistan placed Eurobonds on international markets, due to which $ 500 million were attracted. About $ 310 million of these funds were already used when Rogun was completed.
Last year, from all sources of financing for the completion of Rogun 4 billion 700 million somoni were spent.
46 days left before Rogun launch.
The first hydraulic unit of the Rogun hydropower plant will be commissioned on November 16 – the Day of the President of Tajikistan. This is indicated by the scoreboard with a countdown on the website of OJSC “Rogun HPP”.
The construction of the Rogun HPP is under the personal control of the head of state.
The rotor of the unit No. 6, which will be commissioned first, was installed in its regular place in early July this year. It is expected that at the initial stage after start-up the unit's capacity will be 100 MW. The design capacity is 600 MW.
Next, it is planned to commission the unit No. 5. This event is scheduled for April next year.
In total, six hydroelectric units will be installed at the Rogun HPP, each with a design capacity of 600 MW.
The total design capacity of the station will be 3,600 MW, which will make it the largest hydroelectric power station in Central Asia.
Currently, the construction of the earthen bulk dam of the Rogun hydropower plant, which will be 335 meters high, continues.
The dam of Rogun HPP is being built in two stages. The first stage is the construction of the first stage with a height of 135 meters (to an absolute elevation of 1110 meters above sea level for the two units). The second stage is a phase-by-phase construction of the main dam 335 meters high.
