China will allot additional funds in no-strings aid for construction of parliament and government complexes in Dushanbe.

China will provide 900 million yuan, which equals 129.5 U.S. dollars, in no-strings aid to Tajikistan for implementation of projects aiming at constructing new buildings of Tajik parliament and government in Dushanbe and enhancing Tajikistan’s transportation, educational and cultural sectors, an official source at the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade told Asia-Plus in an interview.

A government-to-government agreement on this subject was reportedly signed during an official visit of Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang to Tajikistan that took place on October 13-14 this year.

According to the source, these funds are an additional financing for the 1.5 billion yuan agreement that had been signed earlier.

The agreement on providing the no-strings aid to Tajikistan for construction of new buildings of Tajik parliament and government in Dushanbe was received during Tajik president’s state visit to China in September last year.

Under that agreement, China undertakes to provide 1.5 billion yuan (equivalent to 215 million U.S. dollars) in no-strings aid to Tajikistan for construction of new buildings of Tajik parliament and government in Dushanbe.

Recall, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and visiting Chinese Premier Li Keqiang took part in ceremonies to lay the cornerstones to the new buildings of Tajik parliament and government in Dushanbe on September 13.

After the ceremonies, Rahmon and Li got acquainted with the projects, according to the Tajik president’s official website.  Both complexes will be built in downtown Dushanbe

The main building of the parliamentary complex will be 49.7 meters in height and a total are of the complex will be 42,874 square meters.

The governmental complex will consist of one 15-story building and two 13-story buildings and a total area of the governmental complex will be 10.27 hectares.
