Tajikistan’s national budget reportedly overfulfilled by more than 175 million somoni

Over the first eleven months of this year, the country’s national budget has been overfulfilled by more than 175 million somoni (TJS), according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF Secretariat.   

In January-November this year, a total volume of the country’s budget has reportedly amounted to some TJS19.5 billion, which was 0.9 percent more than the updated budget target. 

Over the report period, tax revenues have amounted to more than 13.1 billion somoni, which was nearly 70 percent of total volume of the budget revenues.  

Over the same eleven month period, the budget revenues have reportedly stood at 19.8 billion somoni, which was 18 percent more compared to the same period last year.  

In January-November 2018, the fuel-and-energy complex has reportedly accounted for more than 25 percent of the budget expenditures.

Some 17 percent have been spent on the education sector, 13 percent have been spent on social insurance and social protection, and some 7 percent have been spent on the health sector, the MoF Secretariat said. 

Recall, the 2018 budget revenues were projected to stand at TJS21.003 billion and the expenditures were projected to stand at TJS21.337 billion.

Social spending was projected to account for nearly 50 percent of budget allocations, with more than 30% earmarked for public education alone. 

The 2018 budget projected expenditure of TJS1.482 billion for enhancement of the transportation and communications system. 

The budget also earmarked 3.2 billion somoni for implementation of investment projects.  

Besides, the budget projected expenditure of nearly 1.234 billion somoni for external debt service.
