Uzbekistan has reportedly simplified transit procedures for Tajikistan-bound cargo and increased the number of transit routes for semi-trucks from Tajikistan

Uzbekistan has simplified transit procedures for Tajikistan-bound cargo extending the period during which trucks should leave the country from three to five days, according to CA-News (Uz).

Besides, the Uzbek authorities have reportedly opened 47 new transit routes for foreign haulers, including 18 transit routes for entry from common border with Tajikistan and 12 transit routes for entry from common border with Turkmenistan.

Recall, Uzbekistan has reduced rail transit cargo fees for Tajikistan.  In August 2017, Uzbekistan reduced transit fees for cargo carried along the Keles-Kudukli and the Khojadavlat-Kudukli rail routes by 40 percent.  The transit fee for oil products carried along the Karakalpakstan-Kudukli rail route was cut by 30 percent and the transit fee for other goods carried along this route was cut by 50 percent.

Current transit fee for Tajikistan’s road freight transport and buses is 180.00 U.S. dollars, while the entry and transit fee for foreign vehicles crossing the Tajik-Uzbek border is 265.00 U.S.
