An entrepreneur from Kazakhstan intends to arrange production of silk in the Tajik northern Sughd province.  The Sughd authorities have already allotted 50 hectares of lands to him for raising silkworms.  

Kazakh entrepreneur Sultanbek Bakirov has recently met in Khujand, the capital of Sughd province, with Sughd governor Rajabboy Ahmadzoda. 

According to the Sughd regional administration press center, the two reached an agreement on allotting 50 hectares of lands in the province to Bakirov for planting mulberry trees.  

Kazakh entrepreneur reportedly assured Sughd governor that it is possible to get two silkworm harvests in northern Tajikistan.   

Bakirov also noted that he is ready to invest in development of cocoon production in northern Tajikistan and arrange manufacturing of final product in the province, the press center said.   

Meanwhile, Kazakh media reports say that entrepreneur from Baydibek district (Turkistan Region in southern Kazakhstan) Sultanbek Bakirov, who originates from China, has participated in developing a new variety of mulberry and inventing a new technology of production of silk threads.
