Goods and services prices reportedly rise on average 1.2 percent in January-February this year

Over the first two months of this year, prices for goods and service have risen on average 1.2 percent, which was 0.9 percent more than in the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Over the report period, prices set by producers of food products have reportedly increased by 2.3 percent.  The increase in cost of products of the food industry was reportedly caused by 23.5 percent rise in prices for cabbages, onions – 20.5 percent, grade I wheat flour – 5.5 percent, and lamb – 3.6 percent.  

Prices and rates for services rendered to the population during the same two-month period have increased by 1.0 percent.  The ones that increased most significantly were: airline tickets – 53 percent, rail – 2.9 percent, hotel services – 1.8 percent, and hairdressing – 0.4 percent

Meanwhile, prices for non-foodstuffs have reportedly fallen 0.6 percent over the first two months of this year.  However, the prices that increased over the report period were: home textiles – 3.3 percent; shoes – 1.9 percent, detergents – 1.1 percent, home appliances – 1.0 percent, and building materials – 0.9 percent.
