Over the first three months of this year, prices for goods and service have risen on average 1.3 percent, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Over the report period, prices set by producers of food products have reportedly increased by 2.3 percent.  The increase in cost of products of the food industry was reportedly caused by 32 percent rise in prices for cabbages, onions – 23 percent, grade I wheat flour – 5.0 percent, lamb – 4.0 percent, and beef – 1.6 percent.  

Prices and rates for services rendered to the population during the same three-month period have increased by 1.6 percent.  The ones that increased most significantly were: airline tickets – 53 percent, rail – 4.0 percent, hotel services – 1.2 percent, and hairdressing – 0.4 percent

Prices for non-foodstuffs have reportedly risen 0.1 percent over the first three months of this year.  The prices that increased over the report period were: shirts for girls – 18 percent; children’s socks – 12 percent, men’s leather shoes – 6.0 percent, and roofing slates – 4.0 percent. 

The government expects the country’s year-end inflation to stand at 7.0 percent.  

Last year, the year-en inflation in Tajikistan stood at 5.4 percent.
