Tajik farmers worry that torrential rain can affect vegetable and fruit harvests this year.  International experts recommend that Tajik farmers make shift to growing vegetables and fruits in film greenhouses

This spring’s rainy weather can affect vegetable and fruit harvests.  Farmers say the most vulnerable in unstable weather are apricots, peaches, grapes, cherries, sweet cherries, cucumbers and tomatoes.

As a result of rainy weather, wholesale prices for these vegetables and fruits have risen significantly in recent days.

Thus, the wholesale price for cucumbers has risen at Dushanbe’s bazaars from 1.80 somoni to 3.00 somoni, with similar price rises in other parts of the country.

So that farmers would be less dependent on weather conditions, international experts recommend that Tajik farmers make shift to growing vegetables and fruits in film greenhouses.
