DUSHANBE, August 21, Asia-Plus — Tajik government has considered issues related to preparations for celebrations to mark the 16th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence, presidential press service said.
A working meeting of the government presided over by President Emomali Rahmon was held on August 20.
Prime Minister Oqil Oqilov, senior representatives from president’s office, heads of relevant ministries ad organizations, as well as representatives from the public attended the meeting.
Abdufattoh Sharifzoda, a spokesman for the president, said that the meeting had also considered issues of preparation of celebrations to mark the 800th anniversary of the Tajik-Persian poet, jurist and theologian Mawlana Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi, also known to the English-speaking world as Rumi.
The meeting also considered the results of visit of President Emomali Rahmon to Azerbaijan, participation of the president at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek, as well as a progress of implementation of the signed agreements.
Participants at the meeting also discussed preparations for new school year and issues related to taking timely preparations to ensure the regular work of the country”s economy during autumn-winter 2007-2008 and a progress of mitigation of effects of natural disasters in Asht and Rasht districts as well as preparations for Days of Tajik Culture in Kazakhstan, Moscow and Orienburg, the spokesman said.
In connection with preparations for the new school year, during the meeting it was noted that 43 new schools will be put into operation this school year.
