«The day will come when the ex-field commander of the former Popular Front of Tajikistan, Khuja Karimov, will be accountable to the law for the acts that he committed in the republic during the civil war», – Tajik Interior Ministry spokesman Umarjon Emomali said.

At the same time, he said that he had seen reports from some media that the UAE authorities allegedly released Karimov from custody on August 22.

«We did not receive such information through official channels either from the UAE or through Interpol. Tajikistan timely sent to Dubai all the necessary information on Karimov’s extradition to Dushanbe», – spokesman said.

In conclusion, he stressed that «like any other criminal Karimov will appear before the law, this only takes time».
