Elevator-producing enterprise is expected to be launched in the Tajik southern city of Kulob, some 196 kilometers south of Dushanbe.  Tajikistan is currently seeking investors for implementation of this project.

According to the State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest), the main objective of project is in establishing a high-tech complex on manufacturing elevators.

An official source at GosKomInvest says the estimated budget for implementation of the project, which is designed for three years, is 10 million U.S. dollars.

“The preliminary business plan has already been developed and it is necessary to conduct feasibility study for the project,” the source added.

An area of 1.5 hectares has been allotted for construction of the enterprise, which will be able to manufacture up to 3,000 elevators per year.  The plant is expected to create more than 250 new jobs.

The elevators will also be exported to the neighboring countries.

Investors will be granted numerous benefits, including a special licensing regime, exempting imported production and technological equipment from payment of taxes and customs duties, etc.
