DUSHANBE, April 10, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Inflation for January-March this year stood at 1.2 percent, which is 1.4 percent fewer than in the same period of last, according to press service of the National bank of Tajikistan (NBT).

Over the first three months of last year, inflation had reportedly stood at 2.6 percent.

Over the first quarter of this year, prices of products of the food industry have increased by 0.6 percent, non-foodstuffs have risen by 0.4 percent and prices and rates for services rendered to the population have increased by 5.6 percent.

According to prognosis of Tajikistan’s monetary policy for 2009, inflation is expected to no exceed 13 percent by the end of the year.
