DUSHANBE, July 26, Asia-Plus — A progress of construction of facilities, which are being built under financial support of the Aga Khan Foundation, was discussed at a July 25 meeting of the Dushanbe mayor’s office presided over by its head Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev.

According to Shavkat Saidov, a spokesman for the Dushanbe mayor, Ubaidulloyev demanded at the meeting that builders should keep strictly to the scheduled of construction of these facilities.  

“The mayor also drew attention of those present on a state of use public places in microrayons, which were organized for holding various private events,” the spokesman said.   

During the meeting, it was noted that despite adoption of appropriate legal documents, these places are still used by separate people as mosques.  

Taking into account proposals of imams (priors) of the capital mosques and heads of mahallas (local communities) the mayor ordered the Dushanbe city prosecutor’s office to inspect all microrayons of the city to monitor observance of laws on religion and religious organizations, and order of observing national traditions and rituals.

The meeting also heard a report by Tohir Mirzoyev, the head of the Dushanbe branch of the country’s public charity, on a progress of remittance of funds to the charity, as well as considered issues related to preparations for the winter, the spokesman said.
