Tajik state air company carries some 245,000 passengers in January-June

DUSHANBE, July 18, Asia-Plus — Over the first six months of the year, Tajik State Air Company TajikAir has carried 244,600 passengers, which is 18.1 percent more than in the same period of 2006, information posted on TajikAir’s website said.

According to TajikAir’s website, over the same-six month period, the main direction of commercial policy of Tajik national air has been to optimize air routes in order to raise efficiency of aerial carriages.  To reach these goals, Tajik national air carrier has launched new air routes – from Dushanbe to St. Petersburg and from Dushanbe via Khujand to Moscow.  Besides, TajikAir has increased number flights to the existing flights and canceled unprofitable flights both on international and domestic routes.

To develop the aviation sector of the country Tajik air carrier leased Boeing 737-200.  Boeing 737-200 was leased to partially replace TajikAir’s TU-134s, which are outliving their service life soon.

The 737 – a short-to-medium-range airplane – is based on a key Boeing philosophy of delivering added value to airlines with reliability, simplicity and reduced operating and maintenance costs.  The 737-200 made its maiden flight on August 8, 1967.  The 737-200 was widely preferred and was produced until 1988.

Stabilization and rise in econmic indices of the Tajik air carrier have allowed strengthening the TajikAir budget and using funds for increasing wages of employees and other social payments.
