Population of Tajikistan increased by 2.2 percent or 203,000 people in a year to September 30, 2019, reaching 9.258 million people, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan 

As of October 1, 2019, population of the southern Khatlon province was 3.328 million people, Sughd province – 2.690 million people, districts subordinate to the center (RRP) – 2.156 million people, Dushanbe – 855 million people, the Gorno Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO) – 228,000 people.

Over the first nine months of this year, 162,600 newborns have been registered with registry offices of the country, including 65,200 newborns registered in Khatlon province, 42,500 newborn registered in Sughd province, 40,000 newborns registered in districts subordinate to the center, and 2,900 newborns registered in GBAO.  

The number of deaths registered in the country over the same nine-month was 25,000, including 1,500 babies under the age of one year.
