Tajikistan and Turkey are expected to sign a water cooperation agreement in the near future.

The government of Tajikistan has reportedly sent the draft agreement on water cooperation with Turkey for consideration to a number of relevant ministries and agencies.

The document, in particular, provides for rendering technical assistance and sharing knowledge on water supply and purification.

The sides are also expected to exchange experience in managing river flows and water resources, taking into account reduction in water resources as a result of climate change and increasing requirements of agrarian sector, industry and population in water.

Besides, they plan to set up a network of experts of the two countries and share experience in managing dams and so forth.

Moreover, the document provides for development and implementation of joint water projects.
