Iran is interested in implementation of joint investment projects in Kazakhstan in agriculture, transport and energy sectors, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said.

“Iran is ready to actively implement the development programs of Kazakhstan,” Ahmadinejad said at the meeting with Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev.

“In the near future we will be closely collaborating in agriculture, mainly grain export and its transit through the territory of Iran, in particular Persian Gulf,” he said.

Implementation of petroleum chemistry, technology export and exploration projects are being discussed.

He also noted that Nursultan Nazarbaev approved his proposal on construction of highway parallel to the Uzen-Gorgan Railway, which would connect Iran to Kazakhstan.

The sides are planning to establish flight connection between Astana and Tehran.

The President of Iran also said Kazakhstan will supply world markets with oil through the territory of Iran.

“We have already ordered four oil tankers and we are also planning to cooperation in production of oil tankers for Kazakhstan to supply world markets with oil through Iran,” Ahmadinejad said.

Kazakhstan and Iran will also enhance cooperation in banking sector.

“This cooperation will serve as basis for increasing trade turnover between the countries,” the President of Iran added.
